Cars, Bars & Stars

Subway cars
Smelly bars
Millions of stars shining on mars

Mice on the tracks
Rats in the back
Sky sometimes is black

Impatient people waiting
Hands are shaking
Earth is quaking

Squeeze on in
Don't drink too much gin
Ah, sunrise...take a deep breath and grin

Sayori the Eastern Gray Squirrel

Sayori is an Eastern Gray Squirrel
She is one smart and fast omnivore
This just means she eats a lot of different things
Acorns, seeds, tree bark and even chicken wings!

There's a lot of food that can be found in the park
Sayori will scavenge and hoard sometimes in the dark
She buries her snacks in the safest of places
It's not just for anyone to feed their faces

Sayori has a nest made of twigs, grass and hay
She sleeps there at night, and calls this her drey
She has four toes in front and five in the back
Most of her friends are gray, but she is solid black

One amazing thing about Sayori's paws
She has two backward-pointing claws
This helps her, say... when she has a giant thirst
To scurry down the tree face first

Some of her favorite park pastimes are
Chasing her friends and watching movies under the stars
She never really uses her paws to swim
But she does fly through the air from limb to limb

One day her good buddy Chasity said
"I need to show you something, get out of bed!!"
They went down to the east river walk
And listened to one of the smartest squirrels talk

This squirrel, they didn't get his name
But he said some of the most beautiful things
He talked about all the creatures getting along
And sang them an inspirational song

After this special squirrel's song was through
He was on his way to tell his message to somebody new
When he was gone they were left with such a good feeling
Happy, no overjoyed, they could have danced on the ceiling!

They spread his message of living in harmony and peace
To all of the creatures they were lucky to meet
They said our differences help to balance the world
"Be proud of your talents, all boys and girls!"

Connor's First Day at School

Today on my very first day of school
I met my teacher, Mrs. Kile, she was soooo cool!
Her classroom was fun and decorated so nice
Which surely did help break the ice

She has a big reading tub in one corner of the room
Filled with blankets, and pillows, oh, I will get in there soon!
Strings with pins were hanging on the wall
To display our artwork we would do this fall

Then all of a sudden to my great surprise
A cute little guinea pig looked me dead in the eyes
So I, Connor Katz, decided right then and there
I would look after him with extra special care

Van Gogh was his given name
Eating crunchy vegetables, his favorite thing
His fur was soft, light brown and white
I couldn't let him out of my sight!

But, soon it was time to work on some drawings
I got busy working, but could still hear Van Gogh gnawing
This sound made me so hungry myself
Then I heard Mrs. Kile say, "please put your drawings on the shelf"

"Children please line up against the wall
We're going on a trip down the hall"
Off we went to the cafeteria for lunch
Shhhhh!... she said, we were such a noisy bunch

Quietly we marched down to the cafeteria
Where we ate so much it was almost hysteria!
Then off we went outside to play
Oh, it was such a glorious day!

Then back into class to read a good story
and play with Van Gogh, oh don't you worry!
All the children were careful with the tiny little creature
He was really sweet, and definitely the days main feature

We practiced our numbers and letters once more
Then cleaned up the room a couple minutes before
It was time to go catch the bus to go home
And see our dear parents who missed us while we were gone

Foster D. Dog

Foster D. Dog was one member of a litter
That lived in downtown Athens, but really needed a sitter

Found outside by some nice burrito guys
They were immediately drawn to his sweet little eyes

They found him good people and a place to call home
With Erin and Charlie he was never alone

His days were spent jumping in Sophia's little pool
He really loved the water, it did make him drool

Just after taking a nice long walk, he was no slouch
he would eat a good dinner and curl up on the couch

Foster D. Dog was one happy guy
He would jump up and down and I will tell you why

He had a good home and friends galore
Exercise, a bed and his own doggie door

He counts his blessings every night
To have such a great family everything was just right!

Kat's Big Breakfast

At six in the morning Kat woke up and decided
to make a big breakfast at the place she resided
She pulled out some eggs and a nice block of cheddar
Because everyone knows cheese makes things taste better!

She whisked and chopped and cooked away
Because a good breakfast is how to begin your day
She woke up Dave, Alex, Connor and Ava too
By saying, "time to wake up, i've made a nice breakfast for you"

Eggs with cheese and also grits
Bacon and pancakes with peanut butter chips
Muffins and milk and a nice bowl of fruit
They sat right down and ate the entire loot!

Then off they went to get dressed for their day
With lots of energy to work and play
And late at night when her day was through
Kat thought, "what can I make tomorrow for my sweet little crew"

Connor's Blocks

Early one evening, after his bath
Connor was contemplating some math…

Two blocks here and two blocks there
A rectangle on top could make a chair!
Four more in two lines that don’t connect
Until you put a couple more blocks on top to rest

A tunnel, a tunnel for cars to go through
A tunnel, a tunnel for Connor and baby Ava too!

I can walk on the top, and baby Ava can crawl through the hole
Or take our buddy Mac for a nice little stroll!

We can stack then up tall if we really try
Like all those skyscrapers we can see in the sky

Then in comes mom and says “Alright Connor it’s time for bed
To dream of the ideas that are floating in your head”

In the Park with Mac and Scooter

Early one morning deep in the park
Mac and Scooter were happy as larks
They ran and sniffed and chomped on grass
They really were having such a tremendous blast!

Then all of a sudden out ran a squirrel
Which sent Mac and Scooter into a crazy whirl
They chased that silly squirrel up a tall tree
And barked and barked until they saw Charlie and Jubilee

They ran to greet their dear old friends
And to find out just where they had been
They walked along the curvy path of gravel
And Jubilee told them of their adventurous travels

He talked of the history they had learned in Baltimore
And how beautiful was the beach on the Jersey Shore
Lake Martin in Alabama was calm and serene
And the friends they made in Georgia, Peaches & Irene

They walked and talked and when Jubilee was through
Mac and Scooter decided to throw a welcome home party and called the whole crew
Maggie, Sassy, Satchel and Astro Blue
Sweet Pea, Coco, Peaches and Irene too!

They partied on into the night
Until it was time for Peaches and Irene to catch their flight
All the doggies hugged them good-bye
And wished them a safe trip flying high in the sky

Then off to bed for the rest of the doggie team
To sleep and have fantastic traveling dreams
Then wake up and start a brand new day
Deep in the park where doggies love to play
