Sayori is an Eastern Gray Squirrel
She is one smart and fast omnivore
This just means she eats a lot of different things
Acorns, seeds, tree bark and even chicken wings!
There's a lot of food that can be found in the park
Sayori will scavenge and hoard sometimes in the dark
She buries her snacks in the safest of places
It's not just for anyone to feed their faces
Sayori has a nest made of twigs, grass and hay
She sleeps there at night, and calls this her drey
She has four toes in front and five in the back
Most of her friends are gray, but she is solid black
One amazing thing about Sayori's paws
She has two backward-pointing claws
This helps her, say... when she has a giant thirst
To scurry down the tree face first
Some of her favorite park pastimes are
Chasing her friends and watching movies under the stars
She never really uses her paws to swim
But she does fly through the air from limb to limb
One day her good buddy Chasity said
"I need to show you something, get out of bed!!"
They went down to the east river walk
And listened to one of the smartest squirrels talk
This squirrel, they didn't get his name
But he said some of the most beautiful things
He talked about all the creatures getting along
And sang them an inspirational song
After this special squirrel's song was through
He was on his way to tell his message to somebody new
When he was gone they were left with such a good feeling
Happy, no overjoyed, they could have danced on the ceiling!
They spread his message of living in harmony and peace
To all of the creatures they were lucky to meet
They said our differences help to balance the world
"Be proud of your talents, all boys and girls!"
