Turtles Turkelton

Just below Belvedere Castle
And north of the Great Lawn,
There's a very special home to many
This place is called Turtle Pond

Among the plants and damselflies,
And the many birds you see in the sky
This place is home to a special little lad
Who everyone says looks just like his dad.

Turtles Turkelton is a red-eared slider
And oh, he is such an amazing glider.
Through the pond he glides with such grace
His mom always tell him, "Son, you have such a sweet face!"

Turtles Turkelton has many different friends,
Frogs and insects and fish with fins.
His very best friend is named Georgia Willie,
They dig, swim and hide and generally act silly.

When the turtles are tired from having such fun,
They climb right up on a log and bask in the sun.
After their long day is through,
They sink to the bottom and sleep for a few.

Early in the morning when the sun shines bright,
It's back to the top to grab a quick bite.
Then off to begin another fantastic day,
Full of swimming and digging and basking away.
